The Ladies’ Continental Cup kicked off with the Provisional Competition Round in Otepää on Friday and it was USA’s Tara Geraghty-Moats who won the round with a distance of 92 metres (114.6 p.).

Last year’s COC runner-up Ayane Miyazaki joined the competitions again after sitting out the U.S. leg of the tour and claimed the second position in today’s ranking. 91.5 metres gave her 109.3 points and a 21 second delay should the round have to be use in case of adverse weather conditions. COC leader Gyda Westvold Hansen also confirmed her great shape with a jump of 93 metres, the longest jump of the day. Slightly lower judges score gave her a total of 107.3 points and a 29 second delay for the cross-country race.

Ranks four to ten went to Jenny Nowak (GER), Ringo Miyayima (JPN), Marte Leinan Lund (NOR), Ema Volavsek (SLO), Lena Brocard (FRA), Maria Gerboth (GER) and Annemarii  Bendi (EST).

The starting field of 25 athletes was reduced as some of the teams were missing their jumping skis due to air travel complications on the previous day and so Austria’s Annalena Slamik, Lisa Hirner and Eva Hubinger, as well as Italy’s Veronica Gianmoena were not able to start. Russia’s Stefaniya Nadymova had a very good jump in the second training round but a bad landing had her crash on the landing slope and she had to be taken to the hospital for a checkup. After first reports, she didn’t sustain any severe injuries.
