An intense Continental Cup weekend in Eisenerz with three competitions within three days kicked off with an Individual 10 km Gundersen event on Friday. Already the jumping part turned out to be a very close affair between Austria and Norway.

The longest jump of the day (106.5m) went to Austria’s Christian Deuschl, followed closely by Sindre Ure Soetvik (106 m) and the strong cross-country skier Paul Gerstgraser (105 m). Philipp Orter, who had a difficult time at the Worldcup in Klingenthal last week and therefore decided to take a step back to the Continental Cup was fourth (102 m), Vid Vrhovnik was fifth (101.5 m) and Norway’s Lars Ivar Skaarset completed the top six after jumping (102 m).

The cross country-race was then dominated by Gerstgraser, who could already take the lead by the end of the first lap and who was able to celebrate a clear victory ahead of his FIS World Cup experienced teammate Orter.

The fight for the third place raged until the very end: Vrhovnik, Skaarset, Soetvik and Harald Johnas Riiber raced head-to-head throughout the race, but in the end it was Skaarset, who was able to pull away and end up on the podium.

The fourth place went to Riiber, Soetvik was fifth and Vrhovnik sixth. The fastest cross-country time went to Germany’s Jakob Lange, who was 44th after jumping and crossed the finish line on a strong 15th place.
