FIS Race Director Lasse Ottesen, FIS Assistant Race Director Jan Rune Grave and FIS Coordinator Guntram Kraus have all been busy with the different venue inspections over the summer.

Meeting will all World Cup hosts and the TV host broadcasters, all important issues like schedule and daylight requirements, camera positions, stadium layouts and different zone setups as well as a multitude of different administrative matters have been discussed with all stakeholders.

But also new ideas for the more distant future, track and hill adaptions and long-term plans for the improvement of the event quality, spectator experience and side events have been discussed to further the long-term development of the discipline. An important topic: the inclusion of a Ladies’ Nordic Combined World Cup together with the men in the long run.

First up in the inspection tour 2018 was Chaux-Neuve for the important TRIPLE 2019 inspection, supporting the French organisers with hosting Nordic Combined’s season highlight for the first time. Following a productive day in France, Schonach, Otepää and Klingenthal have also been visited in cooperation with the respective national ski federations and the host broadcasters. Val di Fiemme, Lillehammer, Ruka and Lahti have been inspected in cooperation with both Cross-Country and Ski Jumping.

In the short few weeks until the season starts, the Race Director will visit Trondheim and Beijing as last inspections before the season 2018/19 will finally get underway.
