Frenzel seals 4th straight Overall title | FIS Nordic Combined

Aug 23, 2018·Nordic Combined

German ace Eric Frenzel won the overall World Cup title for the fourth year in a row despite a sole podium finish between Kuopio and Val di Fiemme. Frenzel has benefited this weekend as his nearest challenger, Japan's Akito Watabe, missed out on the action at the Italian resort due to sickness. Norwegians Krog and Graabak shone out in Fiemme. Nordic Combined is a winter sport in which athletes compete in both cross-country skiing and ski jumping. The first major competition in Nordic combined was held in 1892 in Oslo at the first Holmenkollen Ski Festival, an event still held annually. The sport was included at the 1924 Winter Olympics, and has been on the programme ever since.
