Hill in Ramsau am Dachstein to receive new inrun track

The jumping hill at the Nordic Combined World Cup venue Ramsau am Dachstein will undergo a major overhaul next spring and receive a new state-of-the-art inrun track. The 90-metre-long inrun in Ramsau will retain its special characteristics as the new inrun will be constructed right on top of the existing one.

Peter Riedel, whose company is going to construct the track, major Ernst Fischbacher and Chief of Sports Alois Stadlober met last week to finalise the agreement and inspect the current facilities in Ramsau.

Especially happy about the renovations is local hero Franz-Josef Rehrl: “For me, it’s perfect that my home hill will be equipped with a new modern track. We are training and jumping on these kind of tracks regularly. The existing track is quite narrow compared to more modern facilities which was always a little unusual to jump. On top, we’ll be able to train in winter conditions on an ice track even earlier in autumn. This is a big upgrade for the training centre here in Ramsau.”

Alois Stadlober, Chief of the local Organising Committee adds: “The hill has been constructed for in 1995 for the FIS Nordic World Championships 1999. Even though we did many smaller adaptations over the years, it has become more and more difficult to receive the FIS certificate for the facility. Now we finally managed to be able to built a new track. It will be a big help in positioning ourselves as a modern training centre and offer state-of-the-art facilities to our athletes.”

For the Peter Riedel GmbH, this is not the first project in Ramsau am Dachstein, als the German company already installed a test track to work on the inrun position in detail next to the jumping hill. CEO Peter Riedel is looking forward to the continued cooperation: “I am very happy that a long period of negotiations and planning came to an end and that we can build the new track in the upcoming spring.”
