The Norwegian, 26, went solo at the 6.3 km. intermediate point to claim his first win of the season in an individual event and a career 4th. Germany's Johannes Rydzek prevailed in a three-way battle for the second position, with Austrian Lukas Klapfer to round out the podium with a third place finish. The first major competition in Nordic combined was held in 1892 in Oslo at the first Holmenkollen Ski Festival, an event still held annually. The sport was included at the 1924 Winter Olympics, and has been on the programme ever since.
