The season 2018/19 ends with great successes but on a bitter note for 2019 TRIPLE winner Mario Seidl (AUT). The 26-year-old injured his left knee during the last competition jump of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld and has since been diagnosed with a partial ACL rupture after undergoing an MRT examimation.

Mario Seidl: “I noticed a stabbing pain right after landing in my knee and knew right away that something is not right. But with such an amazing atmosphere, I did not even think about giving up, so I fought through the pain and skied the final 5 km race. Unfortunately, the pain did not lessen in the past couple of days and so I had my knee examined - unfortunately with this sad diagnosis in the end. I really wanted to end my fantastic season on a high note, unfortunately now it is over earlier than expected. But of course health comes first.”

Austrian team doctor Stefan Hainzl: “Mario has partially torn his anterior cruciate ligament which came with a haematoma in the left knee. The injury does not require surgery and can be treated conservatively. Unfortunately, this means the season is over for Mario.”
