Winter sports in the middle of summer, without snow? What seems like a ridiculous idea at first has been an important fixture in the Nordic Combined calendar for years: the Summer Grand Prix. Big names like Jason Lamy Chappuis, Björn Kircheisen and Mario Seidl explain how Nordic Combined in the summer works. Nordic Combined is a winter sport in which athletes compete in both cross-country skiing and ski jumping. The first major competition in Nordic combined was held in 1892 in Oslo at the first Holmenkollen Ski Festival, an event still held annually. The sport was included at the 1924 Winter Olympics, and has been on the programme ever since.
