The two competition OPA Alpencup weekend in Schonach had two different winners: on Saturday, Slovenian Ema Volavsek climbed on the top spot of the podium, beating local hero Anna Jäkle and teammate Maria Gerboth by 10.8 and 14.8 seconds respectively. On Sunday, the top honours went to Italy’s Annika Sieff. Anna Jäkle continued with another strong second place (+5.6) and Daniela Dejori crossed the finish line only +0.3 seconds later to claim third.

Silva Verbic was the best ski jumper on Saturday, setting a jump of 91 metres. With 104.5 points, she conquered the pole position and had a 10-second advantage on second-placed Jenny Nowak and teammate Ema Volavsek, who both jumped to 90.5 metres and 102 points.

In the race, Verbic was no match for Volavsek and Jäkle and was also overtaken by Maria Gerboth (GER) and Annika Sieff to finally claim a fifth place, +1:08.2. However, she beat Daniela Dejori in a finish line sprint by 0.6 seconds. While Sieff did not have the chance to go for a podium position and finished fourth +38.7 seconds after the winner, the race between Volavsek, Jäkle and Gerboth was a tight one. Only ten and four seconds separated the three athletes in the end.
