Otepää ready to host men’s World and ladies’ Continental Cup

The snow control for the World Cup and Continental Cup weekend in Otepää (EST) was positive. Snow Controller Suzanne Tahk reported that the 2,5 km cross-country track and jumping hill are ready for the event.

Both the track and hill are already opened for trainings. The hill is prepared according to the certificate. The track depth is at least 30 cm and the width is according to the rules.

“We have gotten some natural snow now as well, but all the base is artificial”, Tahk continued. “The temperatures have been around zero degrees in the last days, but it hasn’t affected the course and we doubt it will in the upcoming days. The snow storage from last year is still unopened and unused and could be used, should there be the need in case of warmer weather in the upcoming days.”

So far, 14 nations have entered men in the World Cup events and ladies from a record eleven nations will be competing in the Continental Cup, which for the first time has the elite men and women of Nordic Combined compete in one venue. Otepää had pioneered the efforts to unite men and women on a World Cup weekend already last year but unfortunately both events fell victim to an extended warm weather period in late December 2017.
