Germany claimed both individual gold medals on offer, as well as a silver and a bronze, then added the team event gold as the rich icing on its Nordic combined cake, to leave it the dominant force in the sport at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games. Nordic Combined is a winter sport in which athletes compete in both cross-country skiing and ski jumping. The first major competition in Nordic combined was held in 1892 in Oslo at the first Holmenkollen Ski Festival, an event still held annually. The sport was included at the 1924 Winter Olympics, and has been on the programme ever since.
