Pyeongchang is gearing up for Olympic test event | FIS Nordic Combined

Aug 23, 2018·Nordic Combined

Next weekend will mark a special date in the history of the World Cup as it's the first time a major Nordic Combined competition will visit the venue of the 2018 PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games with two races scheduled on Feb. 4th-5th. The Alpensia Cross Country Skiing Centre will host a pair of Gundersen LH events. Fresh off his fourth Seefeld Triple title, German ace Eric Frenzel leads the World Cup standings with a 34-point margin over fellow countryman Johannes Rydzek. Nordic Combined is a winter sport in which athletes compete in both cross-country skiing and ski jumping. The first major competition in Nordic combined was held in 1892 in Oslo at the first Holmenkollen Ski Festival, an event still held annually. The sport was included at the 1924 Winter Olympics, and has been on the programme ever since.
