Riessle makes three in a row as Akito Watabe secures overall title in Klingenthal | Highlights

The in-form German notches his third straight top spot ahead of fellow countryman Johannes Rydzek and Akito Watabe. The 29-year-old clinches the overall World Cup title with two events to spare becoming the first crystal globe winner from Japan since Kenji Ogiwara in 1995. The first major competition in Nordic combined was held in 1892 in Oslo at the first Holmenkollen Ski Festival, an event still held annually. The sport was included at the 1924 Winter Olympics, and has been on the programme ever since.
