Team Germany's Ski Magicians | FIS Nordic Combined
Aug 23, 2018·Nordic CombinedHaving fast skis does almost seem like magic but in reality, there are few people who work harder on the FIS Nordic Combined World Cup tour than the ski technicians. In this edition of "Behind the Scenes", Germany's Chief Technician Ralph Schmidt invited us into their wax truck to shed more light on one of the most important professions on tour. Nordic Combined is a winter sport in which athletes compete in both cross-country skiing and ski jumping. The first major competition in Nordic combined was held in 1892 in Oslo at the first Holmenkollen Ski Festival, an event still held annually. The sport was included at the 1924 Winter Olympics, and has been on the programme ever since.
