The first big highlight of the Viessmann FIS Nordic Combined World Cup winter 2018/19 is here: the Nordic Combined TRIPLE! Held in Chaux-Neuve (FRA) for the first time, since original host Seefeld (AUT) is busy hosting the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships this year, the TRIPLE was moved to another heartland of the Nordic Combined sport and three events in three days will be held on the HS 118 La Côté Feuilleé ski jumping hill and the track Le Lernier.

The change of venue is the only big change in the TRIPLE lineup: three events, a 1 jump, 5 km Ind. Gundersen event on Day 1, a 1 jump, 10 km Ind. Gundersen on Day 2 and a 2 jump, 15 km Final Ind. Gundersen on Day 3 are on schedule. Only the Top 50 athletes from Day 1 and the best 30 athletes from Day 2 advance to the next competitions and all athletes take their results from the previous days with them (in form of minus points in the jumping events and time delays in the cross-country races, as usual).

The athlete who crosses the finish line first on the final day is the TRIPLE winner 2019 and will continue the winner list that only contains two names so far: the first four editions went to Eric Frenzel (GER), last year, Akito Watabe (JPN) was successful. 200 World Cup points and double the prize money of a normal event await the winner on Day 3.

The change of venue did also reshuffle the cards of prospective winners: with Johannes Rydzek slowly getting into top shape, a Jarl Magnus Riiber, who prioritised training over competing on the last weekend and other Chaux-Neuve specialists like Alessandro Pittin (ITA), who won three memorable events in a row here in 2012, might use their great shapes or venue affinity to their own gains. But as usual, the TRIPLE might write its own rules again.
