The Finnish Ski Association’s long-term partner, Europcar, annually distributes a scholarship to a promising young athlete. At the end of the 2018/2019 season, the grant has been awarded to Nordic Combined athlete Annamaija Oinas.

Oinas represented Finland in Lahti in the first FIS Nordic World Ski Championships and in the Nordic Combined individual and Ski Jumping mixed team competition. In the 2018/19 season, Oinas also participated in Continental Cup events.

The scholarship was awarded on the proposal of the coaches to an important Ladies’ Nordic Combined pioneer. Oinas has been one of the first female Nordic Combined athletes in Finland and has pursued goal-oriented training towards international competitions.

"Annamaija is Finland's junior champion and our most successful female athlete in international competitions. She definitely has potential for success in competitions in the future," says Junior National Team coach Antti Kuisma. Nordic Combined head coach Petter Kukkonen sees Annamaija Oinas as an excellent frontrunner for women: "Annamaija is a cheerful and talented young athlete who has both the talent and the mentality that is needed in sports.

Supporting women in Nordic Combined through various measures is an important strategy for both the Finnish Ski Association and the International Ski Association (FIS).
