Austria’s Christian Deuschl had an amazing day at the jumping hill in Tschagguns in the valley of Montafon and set his first Provisional Competition Round victory in the highest class of Nordic Combined. 106.5 metres meant Deuschl also entered his name in the record books as the new hill record holder and would start his race with a 10-second head start if the PCR has to be used on the following Wednesday.

Franz-Josef Rehrl was hot on his heels with 103 metres from one gate less and accumulated 135.9 points. Third in the ranking was Frenchman Laurent Muhlethaler, who jumped 101 metres (134.5 p.). He would start his race with a 16-second delay. The spectators in Tschagguns were treated to nine jumps over 100 metres on Tuesday evening and thoroughly enjoyed the proceedings.

Germany’s Fabian Rießle set a good jump of 99.5 metres, which would give him a manageable 38-second delay at the start line but was not satisfied with his landing. If he repeats the feat on the next day, Rießle is a candidate for repeating his 2017 victory in the Ind. Gundersen race. Fast Austrian Thomas Jöbstl had a delay of 48 seconds to contend with, Eric Frenzel followed on position eleven with +0:53.
