Espen Bjørnstad takes win in Norges Cup in Falun
Nov 19, 2019·Nordic CombinedEspen Bjørnstad was the winner of the men’s Norges Cup event held in Falun (SWE). Bjornstad won with an advantage of 5 seconds over Jørgen Graabak. 10 seconds later, Germany’s Jakob Lange crossed the finish line for the bronze rank.
With 100 metres, Bjørnstad had set the best jump on the HS 100 jumping hill at the Lugnet venue in Falun and was rewarded with a 12-second head start on runner-up and young gun Kasper Moen Flatla. Flatla showed 98 metres (130.5 points and had a clear advantage on number three, Jørgen Graabak who landed at 91 metres and started one minute and 18 seconds behind the leader Bjørnstad. Even though Graabak had the second-fastest time in the race, he was not able to catch his teammate.
Fastest man on the track was Germany’s Jakob Lange who had started from position 14 and moved through the field. With a final skiing time of 25:57, he claimed the remaining podium spot for himself. Ranks four to six went to Flatla, Magnus Krog and Jens Lurås Oftebro. With Wendelin Thannheimer, another German entered the Top Ten on rank nine. Kristjan Ilves finished 20th, Ben Loomis was the best American on position 25.
In the junior category, Jakob Skillingstad won ahead of Sander Kolberg and Johan Fredriksen Orset.
