The beginning of the 2019 edition of the Nordic Combined Summer Grand Prix is getting closer and closer and with it, the anniversary event at Oberwiesenthal. For the tenth time, the world elite of the Nordic Combined sport will compete in Oberwiesenthal, this year from 23rd to 25th of August. The first announcements of participating nations have now been published by the organisers.

Spectators can be looking forward to seeing athletes from Japan, China, the Czech Republic, the USA, Norway, Austria, Germany, Slovenia and Russia on the weekend, which will also feature the world premiere of the Nordic Combined Mixed Team Event.

Get active during the Grand Prix weekend

Due to the bike race „Vier-Hübel-Tour“ taking place simultaneously on the weekend, there will be the unique opportunity for spectators to get active and take part in the EnviaM-City-Bike-Sprint. A maximum of 30 participants will do a mass start on the Grand Prix track, where the Nordic Combined athletes will compete on their roller skis straight after. The entry fee is 25 Euros per starter and you still can register until the 23rd of August, until 6 pm. If you are the owner of a „muscle-operated“ mountain bike (E-bikes are not allowed) and if you are at least 18 years old, then you can take part in this unique bike sprint race. The entry fees go directly and 100% to the junior funding project „Kids on bikes“.

On Sunday, several children's running races will take place as well. The events debuted successfully last year and starting places are also still available here. The girls' race starts at 3:15 pm and the boys will start at 4 pm.

Eric Frenzel confirmed for official opening press conference

The participants of the Summer Grand Prix will be presented and answer media questions in an official press conference taking place at Panorama-Hotel Oberwiesenthal on August 19, 2019. Local hero Eric Frenzel will be one of the participants of the press conference and will be joined by other athletes. Invitations to interested media representatives will be sent out two weeks before the event.
