Franz-Josef Rehrl (AUT)

Franz-Josef Rehrl topped the result list in first international men’s competition round in Oberhof since 2007. 135 metres gave Rehrl, who was jumping from one gate lower than most of his competitors, 140.6 points and a 20-second head start on runner-up Yoshito Watabe should the PCR have to be used.

Watabe’s also requested to go one gate lower for his athlete and Yoshito soared to 134 metres and 135.6 points in total. His brother Akito reached the third place with the longest jump of the day, 139 metres (134.8 p.) and would have a starting time of +0:23. Lukas Greiderer was happy about his effort of 129.5 metres which carried him to the fourth place in the ranking but already +1:04 behind the leading trio. Ernest Yahin and Vitalii Ivanov were a Russian duo on ranks five and six and would start +1:26 and +1:31 behind the leader, followed by Samuel Costa and Manuel Faißt six and eight seconds later.

Martin Fritz and Julian Schmid closed out the Top Ten in a tightly packed field: between +1:26 and +2:38, 23 athletes would begin there race with mere seconds in between each, among them Germany’s Eric Frenzel, Fabian Rießle and Luis Lehnert.
