10 metres separated World Cup dominator Jarl Magnus Riiber from runner-up Ryota Yamamoto (JPN) in the Provisional Competition Round in Trondheim. Carried by vary favourable wind conditions, Riiber soared to 143 metres but was not able to set a telemark landing coming with high speed and from considerable height.

In the end, Riiber collected 139.5 points for his efforts, while Yamamoto’s 133.5 points meant a delay of 24 seconds on the start line for the Japanese if the PCR has to be used due to bad wind conditions during the weekend.

Norway’s Espen Andersen finally managed to bring over one of his good training results to the competition and ranked third with 131.5 meters and 126.5 points. His start delay would be 52 seconds and he would be followed by teammate Sindre Ure Søtvik, who started at +0:53 after a 127.5 metre jump.

Behiind these first four, the gaps between the athletes became smaller. Lukas Klapfer, Fabian Rießle, Espen Bjørnstad, Franz-Josef Rehrl and Jørgen Graabak would all start between +1:06 and +1:15 and Johannes Lamparter, Harald Riiber and Lars Ivar Skaarset followed at +1;21and +1:22.

As only 46 athletes were on start in Trondheim, everyone is qualified to take part in the event tomorrow, even Laurent Muhlethaler, Samuel Costa, Akito Watabe and Ilkka Herola who were all disqualified today.
