Jarl Magnus Riiber continued to be the measuring stick of all performances on the jumping hills. Also on Oberstdorf’s Schattenbergschanze, Riiber showed the top jump with 135.5 metres and 151.8 points. Austria’s Franz-Josef Rehrl was second with 132 metres and 149.1 points which would translate into a 11-second delay at the start should the PCR be used during the weekend.

Akito Watabe was third with a strong jump of 135.5 metres and 146.1 points. His delay at the start was 23 seconds. Manuel Faißt held the German flag high with position four (+0:31), Jens Lurås Oftebro was fifth with a start disadvantage of +0:42 seconds and would be closely followed by Bernhard Gruber (+0:45), Martin Fritz (+0:48) and Kristjan Ilves (+0:48). Johannes Lamparter and Ryota Yamamoto competed the Top Ten but started over a minute behind Riiber.

Out of the 59 starters, three were disqualified (Thannheimer, Portyk Yahin) and six did not qualify for the Individual event on Sunday: USA’s Taylor Fletcher, Leevi Mutru and Wille Karhumaa (FIN), Jakob Lange (GER) and Russia’s Samir Mastiev and Artem Galunin.
