Autumn time is award season. Two athletes, last winter’s Austrian shooting star Franz-Josef Rehrl and German Junior World Champion Julian Schmid have been nominated for different prizes and rely on their fans to vote for them.

Julian Schmid is one of five German Junior World Champions up for election as the Deutsche Sporthilfe “Junior Athlete of the Year”. Next to Julian, snowboard crosser Jana Fischer, skeleton athlete Felix Kreisinger, speed skater Lukas Mann and rowing athlete Alexander Föster are nominated. Johannes Rydzek was the last German Nordic Combined athlete to win the prize in 2011, Björn Kircheisen won in 2002 and 2003.
