Favourites Antoine Gerard and Lena Brocard did not disappoint and won the French summer national championship held in Gerardmer this weekend with ease.

With Laurent Muhlethaler not on start due to his injury on the ice rink in Couchevel, Muhlethaler was the man to beat. He even dominated the ski jumping round with a total of 128.6 points and, with a 19-second lead at the start of the race, he only needed the third-fastest roller skiing time to complete the course +56.3 seconds ahead of runner-up, FIS Junior World Championship bronze medallist Gael Blondeau.

The fast-approaching Mael Tyrode fought with Blondeau for the second place in a finish line sprint but was ultimately beaten by 0.9 seconds.

Ski Jumping runner-up Marco Heinis ended up on the total fourth rank but won the title in the U-20 category, followed by Matteo Baud and Nils Gouy.

Lena Brocard dominated the women’s event in an even clearer fashion. With 111.4 points, she won the jumping round and collected a one minute and 25 seconds head start on runner up Emma Rougeron (90 p.). In the race, she transformed this advantage into a whopping 2 minutes and 39 seconds at the finish line. Zoe Haton claimed the bronze medal, +3:39.1 after Brocard.
