Get to know: Kasper Moen Flatla (NOR)

The next debutant in our series “Get to know” is Norway’s Kasper Moen Flatla. The 21-year-old made his entrance to the highest level of the sport in Lillehammer this year and has been impressing especially with his jumping performances ever since. Here are some more fun facts about Kasper:

How did you start with skiing / Nordic Combined?

I started skiing when I was quite little and have always enjoyed ski trips with my family. My dad did ski jumping in his younger years and that is what got me into the jumping part.

Why did you pick Nordic Combined as your sport, what fascinates you most about it?

I just enjoy both disciplines so I found it natural to do Nordic Combined. What I fancy the most about the sport is that you can have a bad day in the hill, but catch people in the track and vice versa. You have to be at a high level in both sports to win competitions.

What do you have to work harder on, the ski jumping or the cross-country skiing?

There is work to do in both disciplines, but it is definitely in the cross-country part I have most potential for improvement.

Do you have a sports idol/role model (inside or outside of Nordic Combined)?

In Nordic Combined, Jarl is of course an idol because of his supreme results over the last years. But my biggest idol since a were a kid must be Petter Northug!

What was your greatest/best/most exciting moment in Nordic Combined so far?

My greatest moment so far was my World Cup debut in Lillehammer. To handle my nerves and achieve good results was a huge moment for me!

What are your goals for the next season?

For the next season, I want to improve as an athlete and have more stable results. The main goal is to get a top 10 result in the World Cup.
