Also the second day of the FIS Continental Cup in Klingenthal was a windy affair. Just like the day before it was Simen Tiller, who was able to handle the conditions best and land the longest jump of the field. 141.5m brought him 11 seconds ahead of Christian Deuschl (138.5m, 137.0 p) and 12 seconds ahead of Manuel Einkemmer (138.0m, 136.7p). Szczepan Kupczak (137.0m, 132.3p), Dominik Terzer (135.0m, 126.6p.) and David Mach (135.0m, 125.0p.) followed on rank four, five and six.
The World Cup athletes Philipp Orter (135.5m, 124.3p.) and Espen Andersen (134.0m, 124.0p.) lost a lot of points due to strong headwind and started the cross-country race from 8th and 10th position.

During the cross-country race, it took Einkemmer only two laps (1.8km each) to make up his disadvantage to Tiller. The following athletes Espen Andersen, Jakob Eiksund Saethre, Philipp Orter, Leif Torbjoern Naesvold, Lars Ivar Skaarset and David Mach formed a large group, chasing the two men in front. Mach was the first one, who wasn’t able to keep up the pace and had to let go of the others.
After they had stayed together throughout the whole race, at the last short climb Einkemmer was able to put a few meters between himself and Tiller by choosing the outer line. The Norwegian didn’t manage to close the gap anymore and Einkemmer celebrated his second win in a FIS Continental Cup after his first success in Eisenerz last season.
Also the other Austrian Orter managed to free himself from the Scandinavians on the last lap and ended up on 3rd place (+7.3 sec). Andersen (+10.6 sec), Eiksund Saethre (+16.5 sec) and Naesvold (+20.3 sec) completed the top six.

Just like the day before the fastest cross-country time went to Norway’s Lars Buraas, who had started the race from rank 42 with a disadvantage of 3:20 minutes and ended up on 12th place (+1:51.5).

The weekend in Klingenthal will be concluded with yet another 10km Individual Gundersen event on Sunday.
