Nordic Combined TRIPLE winner 2021 wanted!

The Nordic Combined TRIPLE 2021 is up for grabs. The prestigious highlight of the season is back for its eighth edition and another athlete has the chance to take the trophy home this year.

With Eric Frenzel winning four TRIPLE trophies in a row from 2014 - 2017 and his rising shape this season, one contender is clear: the German legend has also won an astonishing 13 World Cups here and his tally of 16 podiums in Seefeld is most for any athlete in any city in history of the World Cup.

Jarl Magnus Riiber is of course also in the circle of favourites and currently has a commanding 229-point advantage over nearest challenger Vinzenz Geiger plus has taken the pressure off himself by winning the TRIPLE for the first time last year.

Also 2018 winner Akito Watabe is coming to Seefeld with some wind in his sails after his victory and Team Sprint podium in Lahti last weekend. But of course also Germans Vinzenz Geiger and Fabian Rießle are in strong shape and always good for a podium result, as are fast Finn Ilkka Herola or local heroes Johannes Lamparter and Lukas Greiderer.

Seldom has a TRIPLE been that open in terms of the overall winner and so an exciting weekend lies ahead.

The TRIPLE rules have been adapted slightly for the previous year and stay unchanged this winter: As in past years, the event will open with a one jump, 5 km Individual Gundersen event on Friday, which will reduce the starting field to 50. All athletes take their results with them in the form of minus points for the ski jumping round on Saturday and ski 10 km after the jumping round to complete Day 2.

Again, all athletes take their results with them to Sunday but only the best 40 athletes will be allowed to start. They complete in only one jumping round (not two as in previous years) and ski a final race of 15 km. Whoever crosses the finish line first, is the TRIPLE winner 2021 and can follow in the footsteps of Frenzel, Watabe, Seidl and Riiber.
