Olympic medallist Magnus Krog retires

Norwegian veteran and Sochi 2014 medallist Magnus Krog (34) has decided to put up his skis.

Krog already made his debut at the World Cup in Trondheim in December 2008. He recorded three individual World Cup wins in his career, Olympic gold in with the teams and an individual bronze at the Olympics and silver in both team competition and team sprint at World Ski Championships.

“After a fantastic journey as an athlete in Nordic Combined, it is now time to retire as an athlete. There has been a lot of adversity that has made me test myself in a lot of areas and I learned a lot from it. But most of all, I will remember fantastic experiences and great achievements together with a bunch of top class athletes. I am proud to have achieved many goals that few can achieve, and on the journey I have met and gotten to know many great people”, he says. “I will miss this part of life, at the same time, I feel it will be very exciting with new opportunities and a little more time with family and children”.

Future plans for the 34-year-old include graduating as a surveyor / surveying engineer in the spring of 2022 from Gauldal Vocational School.

“It is a fantastic environment, and skilled teachers who have facilitated a good combination of education and sports. Career opportunities are many and varied, and it is an exciting industry. If this is where I go next, I'm not yet sure, and am always open to exciting offers.”
