Annika Sieff set two clear wins at the final OPA Alpencup events in Prémanon (FRA). The Italian won both Saturdays Individual Gundersen 2.5 km event, as Sunday’s longer 5 km version. Also in the men’s category, there was a double winner: Stefan Rettenegger (AUT) prevailed in the 5 and 10 km events.

In both of the women’s competitions, Sieff took clear leads on the jumping hill: 83 metres  and 98.7 points gave her a one minute and 22 second lead on the first day, compared to runner-up Martina Zanitzer’s 70.5 metres and 78.2 points. On Sunday, she showed even 88 metres and claimed 98.5 points and a one minute and 23 lead on Slovenia’s Ema Volavsek.

The eighth-fastest race time were enough for Sieff on the short 2.5 km race to take the win in 8:25.1 and cross the finish line one minute and 54 seconds ahead of Germany’s Magdalena Burger. Laura Pletz from Austria claimed rank three by finishing six seconds later.

Marco Heinis claimed the win in the first of the men’s jumping events with a jump of 81 metres and a point total of 100.9. He had a narrow 2-second advantage at the beginning of the race on runner-up Jiri Konvalinka, who showed 81.5 metres (100.3 p.). Stefan Rettenegger, however, set himself up well for a good result by claimed rank three with a start delay of only 17 seconds.

In the race, Rettenegger worked his way past the two jumping leaders but was in turn chased by a fast-approaching Matteo Baud, who had started from position eight with a delay of 58 seconds. In the end, Rettenegger prevailed by three second, while Baud bested his fellow Frenchman and jumping winner Marco Heinis by 4.8 seconds at the finish line.

Sebastian Brandner maintained his third position from the jumping event and finished +1:44.5 after the winner to take the remaining spot on the podium.
