The Snow Control for the next Viessmann FIS Nordic Combined World Cup in Val di Fiemme (ITA) was positive: the events can go ahead as planned, as Snow Controller Andrea Roggia confirmed.

“The OC has been producing artificial snow since the middle of December when the weather was enough cold. In the last 10 days, about 50 cm of natural snow also arrived. Different snow depots at the SJ hill in Predazzo and throughout the Val di Fiemme valley will ensure the competitions for the Cross-Country Tour de Ski events coming up, the Nordic Combined World Cup and also the Marcialonga long distance cross-country race”, Roggia reported. “The weather forecast for the next days is also very good with temperatures below zero.”

In the Ski Jumping hill, the ice track has been milled in last week and the cooling system is operating as expected. The cross-country tracks are covered with 40 cm of artificial snow on a 2.5 km loop, covered by another 50 cm of natural snow from the last days, with the grooming of the track mixing both snow types.

Val di Fiemme will host three FIS Cross-Country Tour de Ski events before the Nordic Combined athletes arrive to have their competitions from the 14th to 17th of January.
