World Cup dominator Jarl Magnus Riiber was involved in what looked like a serious crash with a possible knee injury during training at Midtstubakken, Oslo last Thursday. He spent Friday with the medical specialists at Olympiatoppen in Oslo to evaluate possible damage to his right knee, including an MRI scan. Luckily, the examinations showed no serious damage or ruptures to ligaments and the meniscus.

Still, Riiber will be faced with consequences when it comes to his summer training:

"Such a fall puts a strain on the structures on the knee and will force Jarl to take it easy for a while, work out in alternative ways and avoid ski jumping for a two to three month period ahead," the combined national team's physician Anders Storhaug Heen told news agency NTB. He added that a more detailed plan for Riiber's training will be laid this week.

“I am very pleased that things went so well in the end. I had a similar injury in 2016, so with that experience, I think this will be okay”, Riiber said to Nettavisen after the diagnosis.

“This could have gone worse, and I'm really relieved. Jarl is such a good Nordic Combined athlete that it can be positive with alternative training for two to three months. I believe and hope that this will not set him back when the season starts in late November”, Sports Director Ivar Stuan tells NTB.
