The season finals of the best male Nordic Combined athletes in the world will be held in Klingenthal (GER). In coordination with FIS and the German Ski Association DSV, the VSC Klingenthal will take over the competitions planned for Schonach, as the weather conditions do not allow the final to be held in the Black Forest.

"After the World Cup in February, both the hill and the cross-country ski run are still in good shape so that proper competitions are possible here," explains Alexander Ziron, Secretary General of the Organising Committee. It is also important that the Corona hygiene concept in Klingenthal has proven its worth in February. This time, too, it will be applied in full.

“The Nordic Combined World Cup Finals are one of our season highlights. With the current pandemic situation, we are very happy that Klingenthal was able to step in as the host of this event after lack of snow and a warm weather forecast have put the events in Schonach in peril. We have now decided to change the formats to two regular Individual Gundersen events to give all athletes the chance to participate in two more events in this difficult winter, not only the Top 30 in a Final Individual Gundersen.”

It is planned that the training and Provisional Competition Round will take place on March 19th. The last two Individual Gundersen decisions of the season are on Saturday and Sunday. The jump starts at 11.00 CET, followed by the 10-kilometer races at 14.45 CET.

Ahead of the last two competitions of the winter, Jarl Magnus Riiber is leading the World Cup overall with 186 points ahead of Germany’s Vinzenz Geiger. When the World Cup stopped in Klingenthal before the World Championships, Geiger recorded back-to-back victories, albeit in Riiber’s absence.
