47th World Cup victory for Riiber

Jarl Magnus Riiber is also the winner of the second competition in Oslo (NOR), securing his 47th individual World Cup victory.

In the lead after Ski Jumping was Mario Seidl who jumped the furthest distance of the day with 131 meters (127.1 pts) in the morning at the Holmenkollen HS134 and took the lead. He was therefore the first one to start into the 10 km race this afternoon.

Rank 2 after jumping went to yesterday’s winner Jarl Magnus Riiber from Norway, who landed at 121.5 meters (116.4 pts) and went into the course 43 seconds after Seidl.

Franz-Josef Rehrl (124 mts, 116.3 pts) placed third with the same 43 second backlog to the leader.

With Manuel Faißt (124 mts, +47 sec), Ben Loomis (125 mts, +49 sec) and Philipp Orter (124 mts, +1:00 min) a total of six athlete started the cross-country race within the first minute.

Overall World Cup leader Johannes Lamparter (117 mts, 102.5 pts) placed 14th after the jumping round, with a 1:38 min backlog.

Seidls lead melted over the first 2.5 km down to 18.7 sec, with Riiber and Rehrl working together to catch up.

Meanwhile, Jens Luraas Oftebro worked his way up from 9th place and was already 4th after 5 km (+44 sec). Riiber's and Rehrl's distance to Seidl was only 3 seconds at this point.

Riiber took the lead halfway through the race and had already pulled away from Seidl and Rehrl by 9.7 seconds after 7.5 km.

In the meantime, Oftebro caught up with Rehrl and passed him after 9.1 km.

Riiber crossed the finish line first and secured his second win in a row with a 17.8 second lead over Mario Seidl in second. Oftebro crossed the finish line 31.3 seconds back and completed the podium in 3rd place.

Ilkka Herola, who again has the red bib as Best Skier since yesterday, again had the fastest skiing time of 22:49.9 min for the 10 km course.

Taylor Fletcher ended the last World Cup competition of his career on rank 37 and was welcomed by the other athletes in the finish.
