COC: Norwegians dominate in Lillehammer
Feb 15, 2022·Nordic CombinedAfter the Continental Cup was moved from Rena to Lillehammer, local hero Gyda Westvold Hansen proofed her outstanding form one more.
The Norwegian reached the furthest distance of the day with 97 meters (119.4 pts) and went into the 5 km cross-country race 34 seconds ahead of Annika Sieff (89 m, 110.9 pts) from Italy.
The third rank after the Ski Jumping competition on the HS98 was taken by Russian Anastasia Goncharova with 88.5 meters (108.6 pts), who had a 43 second backlog on the leader from Norway.
Svenja Würth (85.5 m, 104.2 pts) from Germany took the 4th place and went into the race 1:01 min after Hansen.
The Norwegian defended her strong lead and reached the finish 1:12.8 min before Sieff, who also kept her second rank.
Lisa Hirner from Austria completed the podium on rank 3, crossing the finish line 1:16 min after Hansen.
At the Men’s Continental Cup, Andreas Skoglund took the victory on home soil.
The Norwegian was in 6th position after the Ski Jumping round on the HS98 with a jump on 96 meters and a backlog of 24 seconds on the leader Philipp Orter.
The Austrian jumped the furthest distance of the day with 96.5 meters (126.9 pts) and was the first one to start into the 10 km cross-country race in Lillehammer.
Eidar Johan Stroem (94.5 m, +8 sec) placed second after jumping, while Thomas Rettenegger (95 m, +12 sec) from Austria took rank three.
None of the strong jumpers could defend their podium position during the race, so it came down to a tight finish sprint between Skoglund and his team mate Einar Luraas Oftebro, who missed the victory by microscopic 0:00.3 sec.
Rank three went to Jakob Lange from Germany, 9.5 seconds behind.
