The Viessmann FIS Nordic Combined World Cup returns to Ramsau am Dachstein (AUT), after the celebration of the first ever Women’s World Cup one year ago.

After three competition weekends in Ruka (FIN), Lillehammer (NOR) and Otepää (EST), Ramsau hosts the last event of the first period of the 2021/22 season.

The women will compete in an Individual Gundersen event with a 5 km cross-country race on the 17th and share the venue with their colleagues from Women’s Ski Jumping, who are set to have their own World Cup event in the afternoon. On Saturday and Sunday, the Nordic Combined men have two Individual Gundersen events scheduled.

The smaller hill will give an added chance to the stronger cross-country skiers to challenge World Cup leader Jarl Magnus Riiber on the tough track in Ramsau. Last year, Germany’s Vinzenz Geiger scored a double-victory, proofing his strength in the Austrian venue. The German team is still in the lead of the Nations Cup and achieved a total of 8 podium spots, including the maiden win of Terence Weber in Ruka. Therefore, they’re the top favorites to fight Riiber for victory.

In the women's World Cup, Gyda Westvold Hansen has won every competition of the season so far. The Norwegian convinces with her skiing strength and jumping performance. So far only her teammates Ida Marie Hagen and the Leinan Lund sisters Marte and Mari could stand up to her.

It will be interesting to see whether she will finally be facing competition in Ramsau from the regained Junior World Champion Jenny Nowak (GER) or strong jumper Annika Sieff from Italy.
