At the Lysgårdsbakken HS98 Mari Leinan Lund coped particulary well with the winterly conditions. With the furthest jump of the day on 98 meters and 138.5 points the Norwegian took the spot in the leader box on home soil and kept it until the end.
Therefore, she was the first one to start into the 5 km race this afternoon at the Birkebeineren Ski Stadium.
Yesterdays PCR winner Annika Sieff, placed second with 92.5 (133.4 pts) and had a 20 second backlog on the leader from Norway.
World Champion Gyda Westvold Hansen landed her jump on the HS98 on 90.5 meters and reached 128.8 points. The Norwegian took the 3rd place and had a 39 second backlog on her team mate Leinan Lund in the Cross-Country race.
Meanwhile, the gap to fourth place was relatively large. Slovenian Silva Verbic (89.5 m, 114.6 pts) was 1:36 minutes behind the leader, so that the top 3 in Ski Jumping also made the podium among themselves.
In the end Hansen proofed her strength on the cross-country course one more time. The Summer Grand Prix winner caught up to Leinan Lund after 4.5 km and started an attack on the last downhill. Her team mate couldn’t keep up with the high speed and fell back on rank 2. Hansen reached the finish line 8.4 seconds ahead of Lund, who still showed the fastest skiing time of the day with 13:07.2 minutes.
Therefore, she will be wearing the red bib as Best Skier tomorrow.
Annika Sieff placed third, 56.1 second behind the Norwegians, while Hansen will be starting in the yellow bib tomorrow, as the overall World Cup leader.
