Last weekend, the O.P.A. Alpencup took place in Oberwiesenthal/Germany, only ten days after the FIS Nordic Combined Summer Grand Prix guested on the Fichtelbergschanze and in the Sparkassen ski arena.

80 young athletes took part at two competition days, that showed a weather mix. Saturday presented itself rainy which did not prevent some spectators from watching the competitions in the disciplines of Ski Jumping and roller skiing at the two sports facilities and supporting the athletes with their applause.

Slovenian Silva Verbic was in the lead after Ski Jumping and the first one to go into the course at the ski arena. The 19-year-old confidently led the race from start to finish and took the win, followed by Magdalena Burger and Nathalie Armbruster from Germany.
In the Men's category, Iacopo Bartolas from Italy took the first place, followed by Severin Reiter (AUT) and German Tristan Sommerfeldt.

In dry and stable conditions on Sunday, Magdalena Burger took the lead after Ski Jumping. She was followed on roller skis by her German teammates Anne Haeckel and Trine Göpfert on rank two and three.

Fourth placed Saturdays winner Silva Verbic, who showed another strong performance on the course and also took the victory on day two in Oberwiesenthal.

Göpfert, who won the previous two Alpencups in Klingenthal and Bischofsgrün in August, came in second ahead of Burger. Therefore, Göpfert is still the overall Alpencup leader, with Lena Prinoth (ITA) on rank two and Silva Verbic on three, just ten points ahead of Ronja Loh on four.

Also the Men’s winner was the same on Sunday. Again Iacopo Bartolas jumped furthest and also won the roller ski race afterwards. Tristan Sommerfeldt, who started the race from seventh position, caught up to the Italian over the 10 km course and finished on a second place. His German teammate Jan Andersen placed third.

Therefore, Bartolas is the current overall Alpencup leader, 60 points ahead of Sommerfeldt on second place.
