Finland and Germany dominate FIS Youth Cup in Oberhof

The second FIS Youth Cup took place for Boys and Girls 1 and 2 in Oberhof/Germany today.
The Finnish and German teams showed strong performances on the hill and in the roller ski race.

With a jump on 71 meters Lars Morlok (128 pts) from Germany placed first at the Boys 1 competition and was the first one to go into the 3.6 km ski roller race in Steinbach-Hallenberg. 
He was followed by Czech Jachym Hrdina (67 mts, 118.8 pts) with a 28 second backlog. 
Marceau Liardon from France placed third after the Ski Jumping (65.5 mts, 113.2 pts) and had a 44 second backlog on Morlok.

Morlok couldn’t defend his lead during the race and fell back on rank four. The victoy went to his team mate Jonathan Gräbert, 4.2 seconds ahead of Lukas Mühlbacher and Kenji Großegger, both from Austria.

Manuel Senoner secured a first place at Ski Jumping of the Boys 2 with 69 meters and a total of 122.6 points. The Italian started 12 seconds ahead of Jost Juvan (69 mts, 119.7 pts) from Slovenia into the 5.1 km ski roller race. Czech Lukas Dolezal reached rank three with 66.5 meters and 117.8 pts.

All three fell back during the race, while Finland took a double-victory with Arsi Tietavainen, 3.2 seconds ahead of his team mate Eelia Merilainen. Matija Zelnik from Slovenia placed third.

At the Girls 1 competition, Minja Korhonen from Finland took the lead with a jump on 64 meters at the Wadeberg HS70 and 108.6 points. Teja Pavec (62 mts, 103.7 pts) from Slovenia ranked on place two with a 13 second backlog at the 3.6 km roller ski race, ahead of Thea Häckel (62 mts, 103 pts) from Germany.

Häckel defended her third place during the roller ski race in Steinbach-Hallenberg, while Anna Kerko, who was 4th after the jumping, won the Girls 1 race ahead of her Finnish team mate Minja Korhonen, with a 15.3 second lead.

Like yesterday, Germany showed a strong performance in the Girls 2 Ski Jumping competition with a first place for Magdalena Burger (70 m, 119.2 pts), followed, with a 8 second backlog, by Anna-Fay Scharfenberg (66.5 m, 116.6 pts) and Anne Häckel (66 m, 112.1 pts).

Häckel, who started into the roller ski race with a 21 second backlog, defended her third place, while Burger couldn’t keep the lead. The German placed second, 34.3 seconds behind her fellow countrywoman Nathalie Armbruster, who was in fifth place after Ski Jumping and showed a strong performance on the course.
