Hansen secures 5th World Cup win

Gyda Westvold Hansen secured her 5th victory in the 5th FIS Nordic Combined World Cup Women of the 2021/22 season.

The Norwegian was already in the lead after the Ski Jumping competition on the WM-Schanze HS 98 in Ramsau today. 
Under sunny conditions the overall World Cup leader jumped the furthest distance of the day with 95 meters (129.1 pts) in the morning at the and was once again the winner of the Ski Jumping round. Therefore, she was the first one to start into the challenging 5 km cross-country race this afternoon.

Rank 2 after jumping went to Ema Volavsek from Slovenia, who landed at 91 meters (121.8 pts) and went into the course 29 seconds after Hansen. 
The World Cup leader increased her lead to 38.5 seconds after 2.5 km, while Volavsek contested the race together with Yuna Kasai.

The Japanese (88.5 mts, 121.4 pts) placed third in Ski Jumping, with a 31 second backlog on the leader.

In the end, the top 3 stayed the same. While Hansen defended her yellow jersey confidently and reached the finish 46.6 seconds ahead of Volavsek, the Slovenian was able to pull away from Kasai on the last lap. The Japanese crossed the finish line 1:01 minutes behind and secured third place.

Eva Hubinger, who returned to the World Cup stage on home soil showed a strong performance on the hill as well and reached the second furthest distance of the day with 91.5 meters (112.7 pts). She placed 7th but couldn’t keep up with the high pace of the pursuers during the race, finishing on 17th (+3:14.5 min) position.

The fastest skiing time was performed by Anju Nakamura from Japan, who finished the 5 km race in 13:50.3 min.
