The second weekend of the 2022/23 season will take place in Lillehammer (NOR) where four events are on the program. One Individual each are scheduled on the HS100 and HS140 for the men as well as the season opening for the Nordic Combined women with two Individual normal hill events (HS100).

Also this year, all eyes will be on last seasons Overall World Cup winner Gyda Westvold Hansen again. The Norwegian is considered to be the top favorite this winter, but also her Norwegian team mate Ida Marie Hagen is eligible for a top ranking on home soil.

With Summer Grand Prix champion Ema Volavsek from Slovenia there is another strong name in the starting field, who, like the German shooting star Nathalie Armbruster, has a good chance of defying Hansen.

On the men's side, given the strong performance of the Norwegian athletes in Ruka last weekend, the athletes to watch are clear: Record World Cup winner Jarl Magnus Riiber will spearhead the Norwegian efforts on home soil, while Jens Luraas Oftebro, who claimed two podium finishes at the season opening in Finland will be chasing another top result this weekend.

With the lead in the Nations Cup ranking and Julian Schmid in the yellow bib as overall World Cup leader and Ruka Tour winner, Germany is one of the top favorites for another win in Lillehammer. With not only the youngster, who secured his first World Cup victory last weekend, but also Johannes Rydzek, Eric Frenzel and Manuel Faisst being among the potential podium candidates.

With the Olympic venues of 1994 ready and a punctual onset of winter with snow and sub-zero temperatures, Lillehammer is ready for an exciting weekend including the long awaited World Cup opening of the Nordic Combined women.
