JWSC: Bortolas claims second Gold for Italy

Iacopo Bortolas is the Men’s Junior World Champion 2023.

Niklas Malacinski was in the lead after the Ski Jumping part. The US American reached the furthest distance of the day with 102.5 meters (138.2 pts) and took a 17 second lead into the 10 km cross-country race. 
Rank 2 went to Jiri Konvalinka (100.5 m, 134 pts) from Czechia, ahead of Norwegian Andreas Ottesen (100.5 m, 132.9 pts) and Hektor Kapustik (98.5 m, 132.7 pts) from Slovakia.

Malacinksi ran a lonely race at the top, in heavy snowfall and managed to grew the gap to his pursuers on the first lap.   
Meanwhile, a chasing group formed consisting of six athletes, who all wanted to claim a medal. 
In the end, the American couldn’t defend his lead anymore and had to give in on the last uphill into the stadium. 
With an impressive sprint, Iacopo Bortolas reached the finish line first, ahead of Tristan Sommerfeldt (+9.9 sec) from Germany and Austrias Paul Walcher (+12.8 sec). 
Malacinski took the 5th place, 31.2 sec behind.

In the end, six different nations placed in the Top 6.
