Ema Volavsek from Slovenia is the winner of today’s women Individual event in Oberwiesenthal (GER).

In the morning, Minja Korhonen had taken the lead on the Fichtelbergschanze during the Ski Jumping part.

In foggy conditions the young Finn jumped 99.5 meters at the HS105. Therefore, she was the first one to start into the 5 km rollerski race up the Fichtelberg this afternoon.

Rank 2 after jumping went to Jenny Nowak from Germany, who landed at 100.5 meters (113.2 pts) and went into the course 16 seconds after Korhonen.

The furthest distance of the day was reached by PCR winner Nathalie Armbruster with 102 meters (113.1 pts). Therewith, the German took the third place after the Ski Jumping round and went into the race together with her team colleague Nowak, 16 seconds behind to the leader.

A total of eight athletes started the rollerski race up the Fichtelberg within the first minute.

Volavsek, who placed 5th after jumping reduced her 33 second backlog within the first 1.3 km already to 22 seconds.
Meanwhile Korhonen defended her lead against her German pursuers, while Nowak (+20.2 sec) fell back behind Armbruster.

The PCR winner from Friday constantly reduced the gap to the leader from Finland, but was overtaken by a strong Volavsek during the second lap through the Sparkasse Skiarena.
The Slovenian closed the gap to Korhonen and took over the lead at the 2.5 km mark.

She managed to defend her lead through the difficult uphill part to the top of the Fichtelberg and reached the finish line 2.9 seconds ahead of Korhonen on rank 2.
Armbruster defended her podium position on home ground and took third place, 25.7 seconds behind.
