The Austrian Ski Federation’s junior camp for Nordic Combined is taking place in Hochfilzen and Saalfelden for the 16th time since Wednesday.

With the camp, the ÖSV has set itself the task of bringing young athletes from the regional associations and clubs closer to the sport of Nordic Combined and teaching them the most important basics. This year’s camp is attended by 40 boys and 10 girls aged 10 to 14 from four different federal states.

As in previous years, the camp entourage is accommodated at the military training area in Hochfilzen. Jumping and ski roller training is taking place in Hochfilzen as well as on the Ski Jumping facility in Saalfelden, with the main aim being to playfully convey the desire and joy of Nordic Combined to the children.
The young athletes should remember one thing in particular: With Lukas Greiderer, Johannes Lamparter, Stefan Rettenegger, Franz-Josef Rehrl, Martin Fritz and Philipp Orter, almost the entire national Nordic Combined team was on site to offer valuable tips to the youth.

For Olympic medalist Lukas Greiderer it was very special to train with the children. “15, 20 years ago I took part in a camp like this. Felix Gottwald was there at the time. It's really cool that I can now work with the children, the beaming faces give you a lot in return. Hopefully it will motivate many more for the future.”

“We were delighted to be invited to the training camp. It's an exciting thing, because you can see what you have to do as a coach. It's really great how motivated and joyful the kids get to work. We hope that we were able to give them helpful tips and convey the joy of Nordic Combined in a playful way,” said Salzburg’s local hero Stefan Rettenegger.

So much concentrated competence motivated the youngsters even more, says ÖSV junior coach Günther Chromecek:

“The children are fully motivated and we have a really relaxed camp here in Hochfilzen and Saalfelden. I am particularly pleased that the ÖSV national team visited the children at the camp this year and gave them valuable tips. A visit from the stars of Nordic Combined has become a tradition, which motivates the children even more when they can train with the stars. Special thanks go to the Hochfilzen military training area, which made the accommodation possible, and to those responsible for the ski jumping facilities in Saalfelden.”
