Nordic Combined superstar Jarl Magnus Riiber claimed his 50th World Cup victory in Ruka (FIN) today.

Ryota Yamamoto was the leader after todays Ski Jumping competition on the Rukatunturi HS 142.

The Japanese, who’s currently the owner of the blue bib as Best Jumper, reached the furthest distance of the day with 141 meters (153.4 pts) and took a 31 second lead into the 10 km Cross-Country race this afternoon.

Stefan Rettenegger from Austria placed second with 140 meters (145.7 pts), ahead of Jarl Magnus Riiber on rank 3 (136 m, 143 pts), who started the race 42 seconds after Yamamoto.

With a total of eight athletes, who went into the competition within the first minute, a tight fight for the podium could be expected.

Rettenegger and Riiber closed the gap to Yamamoto round by round, being only 4 seconds behind the Japanese after 3.6 km.
The Austrian took over the lead after the first half of the race, before handing over to Riiber who managed to pull away in the last lap.
Meanwhile, Yamamoto lost his podium position to the strong pursuers yellow bib owner Julian Schmid and Jens Luraas Oftebro, who showed a fantastic catch-up race.

With a breathtaking sprint on the last climb, the German Overall World Cup leader was able to break away and finished second 10.4 sec behind Riiber, who secured the 50th World Cup victory of his career.
Like yesterday, Oftebro came in third, 12.4 sec behind.
