Jens Luraas Oftebro is the winner of Day 1 of the Seefeld TRIPLE 2023.

Ryota Yamamoto was in the lead after the Ski Jumping competition on Seefeld (AUT) HS 109 today.

On day one of the TRIPLE the Japanese reached 107 meters (139 pts) and secured the victory of the jumping round. Therefore, he was the first one to start into the 7.5 km race at the WM Arena this afternoon.

Rank 2 after jumping went to Overall World Cup leader Jarl Magnus Riiber from Norway, who reached the furthest distance of the day with 109 meters (138 pts) and started the race only 4 seconds after Yamamoto.

Yoshito Watabe from Japan (107.5 mts, 131.1 pts) placed third, 32 seconds behind his team mate.

Riiber caught up to Yamamoto already on the first uphill and both of them stuck together for the first 2.5 km. Meanwhile, Johannes Lamparter, Jens Luraas Oftebro and Julian Schmid rushed up from behind and were only 22 seconds behind after 3.7 km. Yamamoto couldn't keep up with the Norwegian's fast pace and was caught by the pursuers, who were only 14 seconds behind Riiber after 5km.

On the last lap even Riiber, still struggling with the after-effects of his infection, could not hold out any longer and Lamparter took the lead at the 6.2km mark. On the last climb, Oftebro launched an attack that even the Austrian, who is known for his sprinting strength, could not counter and pulled away.

The Norwegian crossed the finish line first, while Johannes Lamparter (+8.1 sec) and Julian Schmid (+14.1 sec) completed the podium.

Riiber ended up in the thankless fourth place, but was able to defend his Overall World Cup lead.
