Oberstdorf (GER): Compact victory for Hagen

Ida Marie Hagen is the winner of today’s Individual Compact in Oberstdorf (GER) and takes over the lead in the WIRmachenDRUCK German Trophy.

Like yesterday, Mari Leinan Lund took the lead in the Ski Jumping this morning.

In minus degrees and under a blue sky yesterday’s winner jumped 97.5 meters and collected 133.8 points on the Schattenbergschanze HS109, taking the lead. Therefore, she was the first one to start into the 5 km Compact race at the Ried stadium this afternoon.

Rank 2 after jumping went to Gyda Westvold Hansen from Norway, who landed at 99 meters (131.2 pts) and went into the course 6 seconds after her team mate, according to the fixed starting times.

Fellow Norwegian Ida Marie Hagen (96 mts, 126.9 pts) placed third 12 seconds behind the leader.

Due to the fixed starting times, a tight fight for the victory could be expected.

Hagen caught up with her teammates on the first lap and was already 8.2 seconds ahead after 2.5km.
Meanwhile, the next chasing group was catching up strongly.

Marte Leinan Lund, who was in 17th place after ski jumping, worked her way up to fourth position (+52.5 sec), securing the second fastest skiing time in the end.

At the front, Hagen continuously expanded her lead and entered the last kilometer with a 23.3 second lead.

At the same time, Hansen launched an attack on the last climb and successfully pulled away from Leinen Lund, who was unable to keep up with the high pace.

Hagen crossed the finish line first in front of the cheering spectators and took the second World Cup victory of her career, while Overall World Cup leader Hansen (+22.8 sec) secured second place and Lund (+40.9 sec) took the Norwegian podium sweep three completed.

With her victory, Hagen is the leader of the German Trophy as well as of the Individual Compact standings. The next and final Compact race will take place in Seefeld.
