With his 71st World Cup victory, Jarl Magnus Riiber also claimed the Overall World Cup victory of the 2023/24 season, in Otepää (EST) today.

The Norwegian was already in the lead after the Ski Jumping competition on the Tehvandi HS97 today.

In changing wind conditions, Riiber jumped the furthest distance of the day with 103 meters (135.2 pts), setting a new hill record. Therefore, he was the first one to start into the 10 km cross-country race at the Tehvandi stadium this afternoon.

Rank 2 after jumping went to Stefan Rettenegger from Austria, who landed at 99 meters (129.8 pts) and went into the course 22 seconds after Riiber.

Estonian Kristjan Ilves (100.5 mts, 129.2 pts) placed third, 24 seconds behind the leader.

With 9 athletes going into the race within the first minute, a tight fight for the podium can be expected.

Riiber ran a lonely race at the top, constantly increasing his lead, while Stefan and Thomas Rettengger, Kristjan Ilves and David Mach formed the pursuing group.
After 5km they were 26.2 seconds behind the Norwegian, who showed another incredible performance on cross-country skis.
During the third lap, Thomas Rettenegger couldn’t keep up with the group anymore and fell back, so that three athletes went into the last 2.5km together, already 45.7 sec behind Riiber.
Rettenegger started an attack on the uphill and managed to pull a gap to Mach and Ilves, who went into battle for third place.
Mach fired up the turbo and left the Estonian on home soil, who had to admit defeat.

While Riiber won his 10th World Cup in a row and secured the Overall World Cup, Rettenegger (+39.8 sec) took second place, ahead of Mach (+52.1 sec) who reached the best World Cup result of his career on third place.
