Ruka (FIN): Riiber wins first PCR with painful landing

The Provisional Competition Round for the men’s season opening in Ruka (FIN) took place in winterly conditions today.

57 athletes from 13 nations were on the Start List for two training jumps and the PCR afterwards at the Rukatunturi HS 142.

The furthest jump of the day was performed by World Champion Jarl Magnus Riiber with 145 meters. With 165.2 points the Norwegian took the lead and secured the victory of the PCR.  
Unfortunately, the four-time Overall World Cup champion dislocated his shoulder after the landing, an injury he has faced multiple times before, that could impact his performance for the rest of the weekend.  
Rank 2 was taken by last years Overall World Cup winner Johannes Lamparetr from Austria with 160.1 points, reaching 142.5 meters. 
Thomas Rettenegger (140.5 mts, 140.9 pts) from Austria, placed third.
