Andreas Gfrerer is the gold medal winner of the men’s Individual Gundersen competition at the Youth Olympic Games in Gangwon (KOR).

The Austrian was already in the lead after the Ski Jumping competition on the HS 109 at noon with the furthest jump of the day on incredible 112 meters. With 141 points Gfrerer went into the 6 km cross-country race first, with a 28 second lead.

Rank 2 after jumping went to Hektor Kapustik from Slovakia with 109 meters and 134.1 points.
Eemeli Kurttila (107 m, 132.6 pts) from Finland placed third, 34 seconds behind the Austrian.

In an exciting cross-country race, Gfrerer was able to confidently maintain his position at the top, unassailable. Meanwhile, a tough battle took place for the remaining two medals. Kapustik and Kurttila were unable to keep their fast pursuers at bay and fell behind.

Italian Manuel Senoner, who was in 4th place (+35 sec) after jumping, fought his way forward, followed by Jonathan Graebert (7., +57 sec) from Germany and Austrian David Liegl (6., +46 sec).

Under Korea's blue sky, Gfrerer reached the finish line first and won gold, 24.3 seconds ahead of Senoner who took silver for Italy.

In a nerve-wracking finish sprint, Graebert (+45.1 sec) won the bronze medal by a hair's breadth ahead of Liegl (+45.4 sec), who took the ungrateful fourth place.

On Wednesday the final Youth Olympic Nordic Combined event 2024, a Mixed Team competition, will take place.
