The final day of the FIS Continental Cup in Schonach, Germany, concluded with an Individual Gundersen event for the men. Despite challenging wind conditions on the Langenwaldschanze HS100, which prevented a Ski Jumping competition in the morning, the Provisional Competition Round (PCR) from Saturday set the stage for the 10 km cross-country race.

Japan’s Atsushi Narita emerged as the leader from the PCR with a jump of 99 meters, earning 128.9 points. This positioned him as the first to start the cross-country race. Norway’s Simen Tiller followed closely, jumping 98 meters for 128 points, starting just four seconds behind Narita. Fellow Norwegian Espen Bjørnstad secured third place with a jump of 95.5 meters (126.5 points), entering the race 10 seconds after the leader.

The Norwegian team once again showcased its unparalleled strength on the snow. Saturday’s Compact winner, Andreas Skoglund, delivered another stellar cross-country performance. Starting from 11th place after jumping, Skoglund pushed through the field to secure his second victory of the weekend.

Simen Tiller put up a determined effort, maintaining his position throughout the race and finishing in second place, just 7.1 seconds behind Skoglund. Espen Andersen, another Norwegian powerhouse, completed the podium in third, 11.6 seconds off the winning time.

Aleksander Skoglund continued to impress, clocking the fastest skiing time of the day. Starting from 17th place after jumping, he climbed to a commendable fourth place, boosting him to third overall in the Continental Cup standings.

It was a tough race in hard conditions, but it felt great. It was a good weekend for me. Very happy that I managed to get some better jump on the hill than last weekend. Andreas Skoglund (NOR), Winner

Next Stop: Lillehammer

The Norwegian team’s dominant performance in Schonach solidified their reputation as a force to be reckoned with. The Continental Cup now moves to Lillehammer, Norway, from January 31 to February 2, where the competition promises to be just as exciting.
